Washington: The White House said on Monday that US President Donald Trump is interested in directing joint hits with Russia on Islamic State (IS) psychological militants.
“I think if there’s a way that we can battle ISIS (IS) with any nation, regardless of whether it’s Russia or any other person, and we have a mutual national enthusiasm for that, beyond any doubt we’ll take it,” Xinhua news office cited White House representative Sean Spicer as saying at an instructions.
The position breaks from the approach of the past US organization, which just worked with Russia to de-strife air strikes in Syria.
The comment came after the Russian Defense Ministry asserted that two planes from the US-drove coalition took an interest in a strike on IS focuses close by Russian air ship. In any case, the Pentagon on Monday denied the claim.
“The Department of Defense (DoD) is not organizing air hits with the Russian military in Syria,” Eric Pahon, a Pentagon representative, said.
“DoD keeps up a channel of correspondence with the Russian military concentrated exclusively on guaranteeing the wellbeing of aircrews and de-confliction of coalition and Russian operations in Syria,” Pahon included.
